inno-V is a consultancy specialised in smart mobility through the fields of public transport and mobility management. Our aim is to organise mobility markets with effective and efficient measures and to make public transport more customer-oriented.

Our experienced consultants and project managers have a keen eye for both content and process management. We use our expert knowledge to support our clients dealing with product development, project management, competitive tendering, policy development and innovation.

Our approach is multidisciplinary and innovative, with a clear focus on results. We combine an extensive knowledge of technical aspects of mobility with an additional focus on the softer aspects of mobility: organizational and behavioural issues, process management, marketing, service promotion and more.

Our main activities are:

Organizing public transport markets

Making mobility markets work by creating a healthy balance between the prerogatives of transport authorities and those of transport operators.

In many places in the world, public transport is developed through a joint effort of authorities and operators. In some cases the operator is publicly owned, in a growing number of cases a contract is awarded to a private company in negotiation or in competitive tendering. A key to the success of such organisation is a workable division of responsibilities, a clear set of rules, balanced financial incentives and risk allocation and a willingness to cooperate resulting in a trusting relationship. Inno-V is specialized in the organizational and behavioural aspects of public transport, and we can assist you in creating a successful partnership.

We assist our clients with:

  • Creating an effective organisational setting, helping you to understand the options and making a choice in the governance of your public transport system
  • Setting up your public transport contracts and organising competitive tendering procedures
  • Monitoring the performances of operators and professionalising the relation between authority and operator

Developing public transport products

Creating public transport products suited to the needs of your customers

Public transport passengers do not want to travel from one station to another; they want to travel from A to B. In order to make public transport successful, it needs to be attractive, fast, reliable, easy-to-use and reasonably priced. Inno-V has the knowledge and experience to develop public transport products that are the preferred transport solution for your (potential) customers.

We assist our clients with:

  • Product and network development with a clear focus on both customer’s demands as well as cost efficiency, covering all aspects ranging from network design and timetabling to marketing strategies.
  • Customer communications, working from a clear marketing and branding strategy towards intuitive and reliable passenger information with attractive and innovative product promotion, combining know-how on customer’s behaviour with technical aspects of (real-time) passenger information.
  • Robust and reliable cost calculations for entire urban or regional bus networks;
  • Light rail and bus rapid transport: development of new or upgraded public transport corridors, including spatial and operational aspects of the project as well as cost and revenue calculations for both investments and operations.

Creating interaction between mobility and society

Keeping your city or region mobile, viable and sustainable.

Mobility is essential for the viability and sustainability of cities and urban regions. Inno-V is specialized in finding mobility solutions for our customers that keep your city or region mobile, viable and sustainable. For example, we assisted the Dutch National Taskforce Mobility Management in developing a joint approach of authorities and commercial organizations on flexible mobility solutions in employee contracts.

We can assist you with the development of:

  • A sustainable mobility policy, which takes into account present and future transport demand and facilitates transport systems aimed at passengers while taking the environment into account
  • Mobility and spatial planning. In the development of infrastructure and urban areas, there is an important but difficult relation between mobility and real estate, eg the timing of public transport in a new residential area
  • Mobility management and broader demand management is a strategy which stimulates and facilitates passengers in the optimal utilization of scarce infrastructure.
  • Car and bicycle sharing programmes, which can be effective in preventing capital waste in the form of unused cars and the need for large areas of parking space.
