Parkshuttle as first autonomous public transport service on the street in the world

The Parkshuttle in Capelle aan den IJssel will be the first autonomous public transport service on the street in the world. The transport authority of Rotterdam – The Hague (Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag – MRDH) awarded this small but very interesting public transport concession “Parkshuttle 2018-2033” to Connexxion. The Parkshuttle was already a pioneer in autonomous public transport service, this new concession will set another innovative step with autonomous services using regular streets. The first unmanned vehicles of Parkshuttle will operate on the street in 2020.

inno-V accompanied MRDH in organising the direct award of this concession to Connexxion – with the threat of competitive tendering as fallback option. inno-V took care of project management and supported MRDH in its concession awarding task. inno-V provided the required quality for a successful awarding procedure: adequate knowledge of mobility and public transport issues, specific knowledge of concession awarding and competitive tendering, negotiations and the evaluation of business cases.
